Operative Units
The "hands-on" units – for those carrying out the physical work on site.
Safe excavation techniques including trench support, shoring methods, and working in confined spaces. Covers hand and mechanical excavation methods.
Proper backfilling techniques and compaction methods. Includes material selection, layer depths, and achieving the required compaction standards.
Laying sub-base materials to specification. Covers Type 1, Type 2, and other approved materials with correct compaction and level tolerances.
Tarmac and asphalt reinstatement techniques. Includes surface preparation, material application, and achieving a flush finish with existing surfaces.
Working with hot-applied asphalt and bituminous materials. Covers safe handling of hot materials, application techniques, and achieving specification compliance.
Reinstatement using concrete and concrete slabs. Includes formwork, mixing, pouring, curing requirements, and achieving correct surface finishes.
Reinstating paving blocks, slabs, and other modular surfaces. Covers pattern matching, cutting techniques, and proper bedding and jointing.
Supervisor Units
Monitoring units – for those overseeing and inspecting the work on site.
Supervising excavation work and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Includes inspection of trench support, shoring methods, and documentation requirements.
Overseeing backfill reinstatement and compaction work. Covers quality checks on material selection, layer depths, and achieving required compaction standards.
Supervising sub-base and roadbase reinstatement using non-bituminous materials. Includes inspection of Type 1, Type 2, and other approved materials with correct compaction and level tolerances.
Overseeing cold-lay and hot-lay bituminous reinstatement work. Includes temperature monitoring, quality inspection, surface preparation checks, and compliance verification.
Supervising concrete slab reinstatement work. Includes inspection of formwork, mixing, pouring, curing requirements, and achieving correct surface finishes.
Supervising paving blocks, slabs, and modular surface reinstatement including concrete footways. Covers quality standards, pattern matching inspection, bedding, jointing, and final sign-off.
Reassessments
Streetworks qualifications must be renewed periodically to remain valid on the SWQR register. We offer reassessment training for all operative and supervisor units.
